ABOUT THE ART
”Mimicking the style and look of Jordan Wolfson's robotic sculptures, Bart Seng Wen Long's fashion film forces its viewer to relax into a more voyeuristic approach, subjecting his audience to observe the protagonist's daring poses and sexually suggestive actions.” - Fashion Film Showcase on Bart’s Short Film '人在江湖 身不由己 (or, Eat My Lanjiao, I Really Want You To)'
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Born and bred in Singapore, Bart is currently based in London having graduated from the University of the Arts London with a BA(Hons) in Fine Art Photography. Conspiring with the photographic, moving images and literary nonfiction, his practice attempts to interact with/interrogate both canonic art history and contemporary (sub)cultures from a position of queerness, alterity, tensions and humble irreverence. With an approach to art-making that centres the failure of re-representation, re-reproduction, and mistranslation across mediums, aesthetics and contexts, Bart hopes to reveal unexpected modes of feeling and being, desiring and labouring. Bart was recently selected to be part of Dazed x Circa’s Class of 2021, and is co-curator of Kawaii Agency. His work has been featured on SHOWstudio, Times Out Singapore, Female, British Journal of Photography and Dazed.
